CANADIAN EQUAL PARENTING COUNCIL LAUNCHES

January 24, 2005

I am pleased to announce that the Canadian Equal Parenting Council is now open to accept memberships.

Our web site is found at: http://www.canadianepc.com/index.htm  Our Mission Statement page is found at: http://www.canadianepc.com/goals.html (These goals have previously been posted at EPOC.)

At this time, our particular emphasis is on having the various groups affiliate with  CEPC.  We urge your group to send in its membership application as soon as possible.  There is a form at our website to faciliate this process.  The membership sign up form will also permit individuals who wish to join CEPC to do so.  (There is no charge to join CEPC but we would really appreciate donations to help offset some of our costs that to date have been fronted by some of the current CEPC organizers.  Donations can be made by cheque or money order sent to the CEPC head office.  See the Contact page at our web site.

At our web site, you will find our letter describing CEPC:  http://www.canadianepc.com/join us.html   There is also a page entitled "About Us" where you can see the list of the current executive and Board of Directors members:  http://www.canadianepc.com/about.html

A listserve will be established soon where members may discuss the future direction and programmes of CEPC.  (Discussions generally with respect to shared parenting should remain at EPOC.  [EPOC_NEWS@yahoogroups.com] The CEPC listserve is not intended to replace the good work of EPOC.)

The formation of CEPC is an historic event in the Canadian shared parenting movement.  I am sure that the CEPC organizers have not done everything 100% correctly to this point, but we are doing our best.  You can be sure that for every two CEPC Board Members there are at least three opinions as to how we should move forward.  I hope that the advocates and activists for shared parenting in Canada will join CEPC and provide constructive suggestions with respect to the future operation of CEPC.  As a united movement, there is much that we can accomplish.
